Keeping drivers longer
Nobody can promise you a retention rate, and SFCF does not. What follows are habits fleet owners commonly describe as reducing avoidable turnover — how they work for you depends on your fleet, your pricing and your market.
Set expectations before handover
- Put payment day, late-fee rules and mileage limits in writing before the keys change hands.
- Explain what happens if the vehicle needs service mid-rental.
Communicate about maintenance
- Schedule routine service around the driver's working hours where you can.
- Give notice rather than pulling a vehicle the same day.
Keep availability accurate
- An out-of-date availability flag creates inquiries you have to disappoint.
Be clear about replacement vehicles
- If you offer a replacement while a vehicle is in the shop, say what it is and how quickly.
- If you do not offer one, say so up front rather than at the worst moment.
Respond predictably
- A same-day reply during your stated hours matters more than being available at all hours.
Keep terms predictable
- Avoid mid-rental price changes where possible; where they are unavoidable, give notice.
- Minimise downtime you control — paperwork, key handovers, cleaning turnaround.
These are operating practices, not guarantees. SFCF does not measure your retention and will not report one.
